It would only work if you can access your drive from within your machine, but if you aren&#039;t afraid to crack open the case, it works wonderfully.

One point of clarification.  The new MacBook Pros do have firewire 800 ports.  When I did the data migration from my previous MBP to my new one, I did have to use the ethernet connection, however, as I didn&#039;t have a firewire 800 cable around.  Looks like another thing I&#039;m going to have to purchase.  

You are correct about the new MacBooks not having firewire.  I&#039;m not so sure about Steve&#039;s decision on that one.

		<description>I&#039;m with you... it&#039;s all about the learning... that being said, can you share more about the USB to SATA converter? This would be great to know about, especially since Apple has discontinued installing the firewire port on the new MacBooks and MBPro.
